Welcome to NORTH KOOLIES
We live in Poland, near Gdansk.
We imported our first breeding dogs -
Zuki and Gaya in 2016, from Australia.
They come from working lines.
That's how our story began...

The Koolie is a working breed - a herding dog originally from Australia. For generations, it was bred to work on farms as an assistant in gathering and driving farm animals- mainly sheep, goats, and cattle.

The main goal of farmers was to select these dogs for agility and speed. The Koolie was to be alert, sensitive to animal movement, and loyal to its humans.

Today, the Koolie is gaining many supporters, and the breed is slowly spreading all over the world because it turns out that the Koolie is also a great family dog and an ideal addition to active families. However, it is important to remember its original purpose and provide it with the opportunity to work and mental stimulation.

A large population of these dogs still work on farms as shepherd dogs, but Koolies are incredibly talented and versatile, so we are increasingly importing them to Europe and using their wonderful qualities in many dog sports.Koolies are very easy to train and always ready to learn something new. They are very intelligent and have a great will to please. They are well-motivated to cooperate and do not require any special encouragement. They like to be praised and return the favor by following commands with great commitment. They are easy to reward with food or a toy.
ABOUT KOOLIE'S BODY
The Koolie breed is not part of the FCI, so there is no unified breed standard. For generations, these dogs have been selected for temperament and health traits, not appearance. That is why Koolies are so diverse.

The Koolie is a medium-sized dog with a slender figure. Well-muscled and athletic, with a tail that hangs in a slight arc. The average weight is about 16 kg, you can also find smaller types (11kg) and larger ones (22 kg). Females are usually lighter than males. The average height of the Koolie is about 50 cm at the withers.

Koolie is a double-coated breed with a topcoat and undercoat that protects them from high and low temperatures as well as wind and rain. Their coat can be long, medium, or short in many different colors.

The Koolie breed is considered to be a very healthy and long-lived breed. They usually have no problems with joints, eyes, heart or allergies.
ABOUT KOOLIE'S HEALTH
The Koolie breed is considered to be a very healthy and long-lived breed. They usually have no problems with joints, eyes, heart, or allergies.
However, there are genetic diseases that are carried in the Koolie breed. That is why our dogs (both females and males) are genetically tested to ensure that all litters are healthy.
Genetic test results have shown that some of our Koolie dogs are carriers among others: Collie Eye Anomaly.

A few words of explanation: if the dog is only a carrier of the gene, it will never get sick with this. For puppies from this male or female to be sick, both parents must be carriers. If only one parent is a carrier of the gene, none of the puppies from the litter will be sick. They can only become carriers of the gene but they will never get sick with the disease.
All our dogs undergo X-rays before breeding.I can send X-ray results upon request. Genetic test results along with pedigrees can be found in the tab of each dog.
