Wondering if a Koolie is a good choice for you?
From my almost 10 years of experience, I can say that Koolie is a very versatile breed. These dogs make great companions for families who enjoy spending time actively outdoors. Below you will find various suggestions for activities, sports and fun with Koolie. All the videos below feature dogs from the NORTH KOOLIE breeding kennel.
A Koolie likes movement and likes to explore new places, so it will be happy to accompany you e.g. in dog trekking or canicrossing.
​If you are a fan of speed you should try bikejoring and skijoring.
If you are a homebody but still like training and can provide your Koolie with mental stimulation, this breed is also for you! Koolies love learning tricks. Maybe you would like to try nosework? Or would you like to train a Koolie to search for truffles?
​Are you interested in dog sports? Would you like to try agility?
​Maybe you would like to try frisbee?
​Maybe you would like to try flyball?
​Maybe you would like to try obedience?
Or maybe you want to train your dog to be a rescue dog, avalanche, or debris?
As you can see, Koolie can do many things but requires mental stimulation. If you provide it, Koolie will feel fulfilled and appreciated. After his work, he will be calm and happy to lie with you on the couch. You can read a book on a lounger or warm yourself by the fireplace in winter, and Koolie will relax close to you, keeping you company.If you are a busy person and don't have the time or desire to take care of your dog's needs, the Koolie is simply not the breed you are looking for.
